Navigating Your Journey to the Mediterranean:
Travel Tips & Transit Options

At Go Croatia Sail, we know that planning your travel to the Mediterranean is an exciting time filled with anticipation. We also understand that current global events can lead to questions about transit routes and regional geography.

We’ve received a few notes from our community in Australia, New Zealand, and North America regarding travel through traditional hubs. We wanted to share some practical insights and alternative ways to reach the Adriatic to help you feel prepared for your upcoming adventure.

The Geography of Your Cruise

It is helpful to note that Croatia is located in Central/Southeastern Europe, sharing sea borders with Italy and land borders with Slovenia, Hungary, Serbia, Montenegro, and Bosnia-Herzegovina. The Adriatic coast is a significant distance, both geographically and politically, from the Middle East. Our operations across Croatia, Montenegro, Greece and Turkey remain unaffected and continue to welcome travellers from around the world.

Transit & Flight Alternatives for Mediterranean Travel

For many of our guests coming from the Southern Hemisphere or the Americas, Dubai and Doha are common transit hubs. If you are looking for alternative routes for peace of mind, there are several excellent “Western” corridors that bypass the Middle East entirely:

  • Asian Hubs for Travel to the Mediterranean: Consider routing through Singapore (Changi), Hong Kong, or Tokyo. These hubs offer world-class service and direct connections into major European gateways like London, Paris, or Munich.
  • The North American Gateways: For those coming from the US or Canada, direct flights to European hubs like Frankfurt, Amsterdam, or London provide multiple connections to the Mediterranean.
  • European Rail & Short Haul: Many guests are choosing to fly into major Western European cities and taking a short, scenic flight or a train journey down to the coast.

Staying Informed

As a small cruise company, we cannot provide official safety or political counsel. Travel is a personal decision, and we always recommend staying informed through official government channels. These resources provide the most up-to-date, objective information for citizens:

Our Recommendation

Regardless of your route, we strongly advise all travellers to secure comprehensive travel insurance that includes “cancel for any reason” (CFAR) coverage. This ensures your investment is protected and gives you the ultimate flexibility in your decision-making.
